Bowen Yang steals SNL as a voguing, death-dropping daddy long legs: ‘Call me daddy’

Bowen Yang portrayed a child playing a daddy long legs during a school assembly about bugs

Bowen Yang brought down the SNL house as a sassy, voguing daddy long legs.

In this weekend’s “Bug Assembly” sketch, Yang ā€“ clad in navy spandex, high heels boots and a sparkly top ā€“ served up fierce daddy long legs vibes next to Rami Malekā€™s stink bug.

The pair played middle school students presenting an assembly on insectsā€“ “sort of like Burning Man for the weird kids” ā€“ only, Yang was determined to outshine his classmates.

ā€œWhat does daddy long legs eat?ā€ he asked. ā€œBoys, boys, boys.ā€

At one point, one of the teachers (played by Kenan Thompson) called out ā€œRussellā€ ā€“ Yang’s character ā€“ for his enthusiastic performance, only for Russell to demand: ā€œCall me daddyā€.

When pressed for some actual scientific facts about his assigned bug, Yang listed all the ways his insect was down to party.

ā€œIā€™m hot, I party, I walk into the room and I am respected ā€“ no more questions!ā€ he screamed, before breaking into a dance moment.

He then seemingly tried to do a death drop mid-performance but ā€œgot scaredā€ because he ā€œdidnā€™t want to split my a** open in front of the judgesā€.

The teachers questioned what this kidā€™s ā€œdealā€ is, and itā€™s revealed that one of his dads is an ā€œexec at Bravoā€ while the other is a Republican.

And how does the daddy long legs trap its prey? “I slam my credit card down and say: ‘Daddy’s got it.'”

At one point, another classmate asks why there isn’t a “mommy long legs”. A furious Russell threatens her: “I’ll scare you in the shower later, b***h.”

Fans were in stitches after Yangā€™s daddy long legs eleganza, saying he is ā€œkilling itā€ on the show.

Bowen Yang didnā€™t only steal the show with his daddy long legs performance. He also trended on social media thanks to his hilarious appearance as a ā€œproud gay Oompa Loompaā€ on SNLā€™s Weekend Update segment.

Co-host Colin Jost introduced the impeccable character in a segment to discuss the unsafe working conditions in Willy Wonkaā€™s chocolate factory. But then Yangā€™s Oompa Loompa condemned Jost for outing him on national television.

ā€œNow I guess I have got to call my parents,ā€ Yang said as the crowd laughed. ā€œThey live in Loompa-land. Itā€™s not as progressive as here. They, like, just got Will & Grace. So yeah, itā€™s gonna be a conversation.ā€
