The hilarious social media stars Old Gays will soon star in their own docuseries, following their lives, online and off, while they live together in California.

Robert Reeves, Mick Peterson, Bill Lyons and Jessay Martin, all in their 60s and 70s, rose to fame after appearing in a promotional video for Grindr in 2019.

Since then, their funny, wise and heart-warming content has spread to almost every corner of the internet, and they have amassed millions followers between them across social platforms, including almost three million on TikTok alone.

Now, the four men have signed with Brian Graden Media (BGM) to develop an unscripted docuseries while living together in Cathedral City, California.

BGM CEO Brian Graden told Today: “We are thrilled to be working with the hilarious and very talented ‘Old Gays’.

“Their videos resonate with audiences young and old alike and viewers have shown extreme interest in seeing their lives on a more personal level which we intend to deliver upon.”

Earlier this year, the four men were profiled by the publication, and they discussed how their content makes people laugh, while also educating them.

Bill said: “I think the most important thing that we’re educating people on is that 60 years ago, coming out was a real struggle.

“You didn’t talk about coming out to your parents or anything. In fact, a lot of situations, I heard when parents found out that one of their children was gay, they kicked him out of the house right away. It really wasn’t easy in the beginning.”

Trying to explain their popularity, Robert said: “When I read the comments, many of the younger generation have adopted us an an icon of the older gay generation, to which they feel a great indebtedness because the strides that have been made over the past few decades.

“And so they’re using us to show their appreciation to everyone of our generation.

“Another factor is they no longer fear getting old, particularly getting old as a gay person, because when they see us having so much fun about life at our age, it gives them hope.”
