Little Mix fans share love and heartbreak as group goes on a break: ‘I will love them eternally’
Little Mix have announced that they’re taking a break from the group so they can “recharge and work on some other projects” – and fans are absolutely heartbroken.
There was widespread shock when Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall announced on social media that they were going on hiatus. The group insisted that they aren’t splitting up, but said the time had come for them to take a break.
“We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future,” the Little Mix members said in a joint statement. “We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.”
The fan reaction on Twitter was instant – dedicated Little Mix listeners rushed to the platform to share their love for the group.

For most fans, the news didn’t exactly come as a surprise – many had speculated that the group would go their separate ways at least for a period of time after releasing their greatest hits album Between Us in November.
we all knew this was coming but i’m still so emotional 😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/0w1uzowtHi

There was some speculation that the group’s hiatus could end up being a bit like One Direction’s infamous break from the band, which ultimately became permanent – however, many fans have pointed out that One Direction and Little Mix are very different bands with very different experiences.

But most fans were just happy to see Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade taking time to focus on themselves.
I don't care how long the hiatus will be. Girls go focus on your solo stuff, take care of your children, get more children if you want. They gave us a decade of Little Mix and I'm grateful for that. As long as they don't come back at the same age as ABBA— Kaylie 🏵 (@monsterinmaroon) December 2, 2021
in all honesty little mix deserves this break, they’ve been working as a group since 2011 and we all know it’s not an easy job. they’ll always come back together when they feel like it and the fact they reassured us they are not splitting up puts my heart at ease🥺🖤— perrie pics (@perriesposts) December 2, 2021
I, for one, will love little mix eternally.

Others were quick to call for the group’s extraordinary legacy to be recognised at the BRIT Awards – and honestly, it’s hard not to get on board with that sentiment.
Hey @BRITs I’m fully expecting an invite for @LittleMix to perform a medley of their songs alongside giving them the award for outstanding contribution to music, I won’t settle for less 🥰— ivy (@wegotsynergy) December 2, 2021
Some other very emotional fans just had to share their feelings – because they had a lot of them.

The three members of Little Mix announced their hiatus at the tail end of a busy year.
In December 2020, Jesy Nelson left the group, citing ongoing mental health difficulties. She later launched a solo career with the song “Boyz”, which she recorded with Nicki Minaj.
Since then, the three remaining Little Mix members have released their greatest hits album – and they’ve repeatedly shown how strong their bond is.
The group will appear on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night (3 December) where they will perform their song “Between Us”. Their appearance was recorded shortly after they announced their hiatus on social media on Thursday (2 December).
