Lady Gaga and Kristen Stewart to face off at Golden Globes in epic battle of the biopics
Kristen Stewart and Lady Gaga will face off in the best actress category at the Golden Globes 2022 thanks to their performances in Spencer and House of Gucci, respectively.
The pair will also face stiff competition from Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Nicole Kidman (Being The Ricardos) when the 79th Golden Globe awards take place on 9 January 2022.
Stewart’s portrayal of Princess Diana has earned rave reviews since the moment the film received a standing ovation when it debuted at Venice Film Festival on 3 September.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga’s take on Patrizia Reggiani instantly added another notch onto her belt as a gay icon so we can’t wait to see what happens in this epic battle of the biopics.

Queer actress Ariana Debose has been nominated for best supporting actress for her critically praised performance as in West Side Story.
The remake, from best director nominee Steven Speilberg, is also up for best musical or comedy.
While Disney’s Luca – which fans believe is a moving allegory for queerness and coming out – has been nominated for best animated film.
Fan-favourite Jennifer Coolidge has also been nominated for her hilarious performance as Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus.
Netflix’s The Power of Dog – which sees Benedict Cumberbatch star as a queer rancher, also landed a slew of nominations.

The Golden Globes has been marred by controversy over the past year after the Los Angeles Times revealed that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which selects nominees and winners at the Golden Globes, did not have a single Black member.
The HFPA has since added 21 new members and made further changes with a promise to increase diversity in all forms going forward.
However, due to boycotts and backlash by Hollywood, the ceremony will not air live on NBC as has been tradition.
