Meghan Trainor brings JoJo Siwa to tears with emotional Ellen show surprise
JoJo Siwa guest hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show – and it was an emotional one.
Siwa became the youngest person ever to host the daytime talk show, which kicked off its 18-year run when the dancer was just a few months old.
Kicking off The Ellen Show on Wednesday (23 December), Siwa said: “Ellen is honestly an idol of mine.
“You know, we’re both blonde, we both like women. We also both like putting our face on everything.”
When she arrived on set, she joked: “They didn’t even ask for my ID.”
Meghan Trainor surprises JoJo Siwa with the best Christmas gift
When Meghan Trainor took a seat on the iconic white leather sofa, the pair reminisced about how they met for the first time, before celebrating the “All About That Bass” hitmaker’s birthday.
But, in a surprise turn of events, it was Trainor who had a surprise for Siwa.
She presented Siwa with a novelty-sized cheque for $100,000, for her recently launched charity, the JoJo Siwa Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Siwa launched the non-profit earlier this month, and it’s something she has “wanted to create for years”, she said on Instagram
“It’s been a solid 12 hours since I’ve cried but this means so much, thank you,” the Dancing With The Stars finalist said, her eyes misty.
“This is gonna help so many kids. I had no idea about this, I’m so caught off guard – this is the biggest donation that we’ve had yet to the charity.”
“I love you,” Trainor chimed. “They need this.”
Siwa didn’t let Trainor leave empty-handed, however. She gifted the musician two Christmas jumpers covered with pictures of her and her husband Daryl Sabara – complete with a matching onesie for their son.
“This is my Grammy attire,” Trainor joked. “Met Gala?” Siwa zinged back.
Writing on her Instagram, Siwa reflected on what standing in for Ellen DeGeneres meant to her.
“When I was little I would watch Ellen every, single, day,” she wrote in the caption.
“I’ve been obsessed for as long as I can remember. I can remember times when I would try so hard to get on Ellen and now…. Ellen had me as a guest host!!??
“This was DEFINITELY a career dream AND a personal dream come true.”
Trainor recent apologised for her controversial Drag Race season nine appearance – and confirmed that she didn’t steal a drag queen’s sandwich.
