TikTokers launch bizarre mission to give Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson action figure to Lil Nas X

The TikTok community is coming together to get an action figure of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to Lil Nas X in time for the artist to wear it on his hat at the Grammys.
TikTok account ‘Little Rock Star for Lil Nas X’ launched the glorious mission earlier this month to get an actual rock with a drawing of a star on it to the “Industry Baby” hitmaker.
The original video, published on 14 December, explained that the TikToker was putting a public tracker “on this rock star” to chart its journey across the US from their “hometown park” and “west from city to city until it reaches Los Angeles”.
The user said they knew the TikTok community would come together to help out and hopefully get the rock to Lil Nas X so he could “retrieve it and wear it on a hat during an award show”.
Lil Nas X will be attending the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on 31 January. The “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” singer-rapper has received five nominations for the 2022 awards ceremony, which will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah.
At the end of the video, the TikToker dropped off the little rock at the base of a sign for Cloverdale Park in Highland Park, Illinois.

The video seems to stem from a clever pun based on a now-viral TikTok trend. Its origin lies in a snippet from the 2016 track “Pope is a Rockstar” by indie-pop duo SALES.
The sound has been used more than 1.8 million times to illustrate everything from cat learning to overcome losing his front feet, a teacher feeling proud of their students and even milestones for people in the LGBT+ community.
Sadly, in a subsequent video, the ‘Little Rock Star for Lil Nas X’ account revealed that the first rock “mysteriously disappeared” after “five TikTok hand-offs”, making it “90 miles” west of its original location.
“I thought it was over,” the TikToker said.
But then they said they remembered a now-famous line from the song “Face Off” by Tech N9ne, Joey Cool, King Iso and Dwayne Johnson – which has also inspired a viral TikTok trend. The Rock’s portion of the song is: “It’s about drive, it’s about power. We stay hungry, we devour.”
Inspired by the Rock, the TikTok community created a second rock – this time with a picture of The Rock on it – to pick up the journey.
A follow-up video revealed rock number two only made it “just a bit further” than its predecessor. But the TikToker explained: “Someone decided to drive it all the way back to where it started before it disappeared again.”
Since sending the rocks from Illinois “has failed us twice now”, the TikToker said they drove a “new rock up to Wisconsin to start its journey”. This time the item wasn’t a physical rock but a doll of the iconic wrestler and actor.

A recent video explained that the little doll has now travelled “197 miles” and had “just entered its third state”.
