Charlize Theron shares rare photo of her daughters

Charlize Theron has shared a rare photo of her daughters as she celebrated her own mother’s birthday in a sweet post.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Atomic Blonde star shared a gallery of images featuring herself and her mother, but one image saw her young daughters posing with their grandmother, Gerda.

In the image, the three of them could be seen sharing a hug while on a hike in a forest area.

Considering Theron mostly raises her adopted children August, seven, and 10-year-old Jackson out of the spotlight, fans loved the chance to get a new update about her growing daughters.

The Bombshell actress posted a gushing tribute to her mother alongside the photos as she wrote: “Today is my moms birthday. I wanted to share her with all of you because anyone who knows her, knows how utterly awesome it’s is to stand in her sunlight. She TRULY is life.

“She laughs louder than anyone I’ve ever met. She’s a great tennis player/golfer/hiker AND a gifted shit talker!”

She concluded: “She’s direct, she’s honest, she funny, and she’ll tell you how it is anytime of the day! Ma, ek lief jou oor die maan ?.”

Back in 2019, Charlize Theron revealed that her eldest child Jackson – who was originally introduced to the world as a boy – is actually a girl.

Ever since, the Mad Max: Fury Road has highlighted the importance of addressing people by the correct pronouns.

In an interview with PrideSource, she explained: “My daughter’s story is really her story, and one day, if she chooses, she’ll tell her story.

“I feel like as her mother, for me, it was important to let the world know that I would appreciate it if they would use the right pronouns for her.”

The Monster actress continued: “I think it became harder for us the older she got that people were still writing about her in the wrong pronouns, and also I was still talking about her in the press using the wrong pronoun. It really hurt her feelings. “I don’t want to be that mum, and that was really why I said what I said.”

She added: “I haven’t really talked about it ever since, again, because outside of just asking that respectfully of the press – and the world, hopefully – the rest is really private and it’s her story, and it’s really up to her to decide if she wants to share that.”

Charlize Theron is also a long-time LGBT+ activist, and previously she said she would not marry until equal marriage was a reality across the US.

Back in 2019, the actress welcomed the prospect of gender-neutral categories at awards shows and stated she hoped the change would come “soon”.
