The story is set at the turn of the 20th century during the Belle Epoque, in the Montmartre Quarter of Paris and follows Christian, a young composer who falls in love with cabaret actress Satine.

The show says audiences will “enter a world of splendour and romance, of eye-popping excess, of glitz, grandeur and glory, where Bohemians and aristocrats rub elbows and revel in electrifying enchantment.”

The musical’s score weaves together original songs with popular music for an ultimate mash-up extravaganza.

This includes iconic queer anthems “Toxic”, “Material Girl”, “Bad Romance”, “What’s Love Got to Do with It” and of course “Lady Marmalade”.

The current cast includes Liisi LaFontaine as Satine, Jamie Bogyo in his West End debut as Christian and Clive Carter as Harold Zidler.

Since its West End premiere in late 2021, the show has been nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best New Musical.

The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2019, where it was nominated for 14 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Choreography.

It’s based on the 2001 film of the same name, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman, which was nominated for eight Oscars, winning two.
