Sarah Paulson helps reunite ‘stolen’ dog with owner
A missing dog belonging to a friend of Sarah Paulson’s has been found after the actor shared a public plea.
Winnie was adopted by the actress’s friend, Clementine Ford, in December last year.
The pooch went missing after being dropped off to a woman from the pet-sitting platform Rover on Saturday (14 May).
“Please help us,” Ford wrote on Instagram “This woman was meant to be boarding our dog. Instead, she threw her collar in the trash and disappeared. Please spread far and wide. We will pay. We just want her back.”
Paulson shared Ford’s post to her four million followers, adding: “Help. Spread the word. This woman stole my friend’s dog. Share far and wide. I’m begging you.”
In a happy turn of events, Ford confirmed on Wednesday (18 May) that Winnie is now safe and sound with her rightful owners.
Ford has not explained how the dog was returned, but said: “There truly aren’t words to express my gratitude to all of you who worked so hard to bring my Winnie home. I have felt so held (totally crying right now) and cared for.
She thanked Sarah Paulson specifically, adding that the star “brought Winnie into our lives and started the ball rolling that brought her home again”.
Ford shared a picture of the dog blissfully asleep. Paulson commented underneath: “This is the most beautiful picture I have ever seen.”
Rover told People that it had investigated and tried to reunite Winnie with Ford.
In a statement issued before Winnie came home, a spokesperson said: “As pet parents ourselves, we feel terrible about the pain this situation has caused, and we join Winnie’s family in hoping for her swift and safe return home.”
Sarah Paulson is best-known for starring in American Horror Story, Ratched and myriad other Ryan Murphy projects.
