Heartstopper stars and fans alike have shared their pure queer joy to hear that that series has been renewed for two more seasons.

The live-action adaptation of Alice Oseman’s 2016 webcomic has captured the hearts of countless people since it premiered in April.

Season one introduces us to Nick Young (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), two British students who fall desperately in love with one another.

On Friday (20 May), Netflix finally announced that the heartwarming series has been renewed for two more seasons.

“To those who have fallen in love with Nick & Charlie, cried watching Alice Oseman’s magical story brought to life, or felt represented for the first time on-screen, I am elated to announce… Heartstopper has been renewed for TWO MORE SEASONS!” Netflix tweeted.

“What was that?” said Locke. “Not just one, but TWO more seasons???”

“IT’S HAPPENING!!!” Yasmin Finney, who plays Elle Argent, said in an Instagram Story.

Corinna Brown (Tara Jones), Sebastian Croft (Ben Hope) and Alan Turkington (Mr Lange) as well as Oseman herself all tweeted their excitement about Heartstopper getting two more seasons, proving that the gays will well and truly always win.

Fans, meanwhile, pretty much did a collective gay scream louder than what any human can conceivably hear. And cried. A lot.

Netflix has been tight-lipped about what the next two seasons will cover. The first season, which mainly explores Nick and Charlie’s blossoming relationship, was based on the first two volumes of the graphic novel.

While the third and fourth volumes delve deeper into Nick and Charlie’s relationship as well as their families and struggles with mental health.

“I hope that it just makes people smile and brightens their day,” Oseman told Tudum, the Netflix-run “fan page”.

“But I also hope that it inspires, particularly, young queer people to believe that they can find happiness and find romance and find friendship.”
