Actor Lee Pace quietly confirms marriage to longtime partner Matthew Foley: ‘Hold on tight’
Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace has officially tied the knot with longtime partner Matthew Foley.
It is believed that the 42-year-old actor has been dating Foley, vice president of fashion brand Thom Browne, since 2017.
Pace prefers to keep his private life close to his chest and criticised W Magazine in 2018 for asking “intrusive” questions about his romantic life.
He came out on social media after the interview, saying: “My privacy is important to me, so I protect it. When interviewed by the media, I keep the focus on my work.
“As a member of the queer community, I understand the importance of living openly, being counted, and happily owning who I am.”
Despite seldom updates on their relationship, in a recent interview with GQ, Lee Pace opened up about his relationship with now-husband Foley.
The couple live together in a 200-year-old farmhouse in New York and he said: “I said to my friend, Nick, ‘You know a lot of people, who do you have for me?’ And it luckily has worked out,
“What I’ll say about being married, it was once described to me as an endless sleepover with your weirdest friend. In our experience, that is absolutely true,
“If you’ve found one person you can be weird around, hold on tight.”
If that wasn’t sweet enough, Lee Pace is already planning his future family adding: “I’d love to have kids. I think there’s nothing better than little kids running around.”
Although it is not clear when they got married, it was prior to November 2021 when Pace was interviewed by New York Magazine where he was spotted wearing his golden wedding band, although he refused to address it.
The actor has an impressive and proud history of playing queer characters on the big screen.
During his coming out tweets he added: “It’s been important to me to portray queer characters with dignity for my entire career: A Soldier’s Girl (Showtime. 2003). The Normal Heart (Broadway. 2011). Halt and Catch Fire (AMC. 2014-2017). Angels in America. (Broadway. NOW.)”
Most recently Lee Pace has been praised for his performance in Bodies Bodies Bodies, a black comedy horror about a group of 20-somethings stuck in a remote mansion with a dead body.
