Modern Family cast reunites as Jesse Tyler Ferguson officiates Sarah Hyland’s wedding

The Modern Family cast attend Sarah Hyland's wedding.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland tied the knot to partner Wells Adams over the weekend and invited her former fictional family along for the ride.

The actor – who plays Hayley Dunphy in the hit comedy sitcom was joined by her TV co-stars, who she worked with for over 10 years, and they had the cutest time.

The familiar faces included Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy), Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy), Sofia Vegara (Gloria) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell).

The stars have been uploading their photos to social media and in the most adorable twist, it turns out Ferguson was the one who officiated the wedding.

In photos uploaded to Twitter we see a grinning Ferguson and a delighted Hyland, dressed to stun in her Vera Wang wedding dress.

And on Ferguson’s Instagram story he reposted a sweet picture of Winter and Hyland with the caption: “Sisters for-eves”.

Ty Burrell, who played Hyland’s fictional father Phil, appears absent from the wedding festivities, but Hyland has previously shared how he was involved in her engagement

In a special before the end of Modern Family, she explained that her now-husband had asked her fictional parents, Burrell and Bowen, for their blessing.

She said: “When my fiancé proposed, he asked my mom and dad for their blessing. Then, he also hunted down Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell for their blessing. They really, really are like my second set of parents.”

Also in attendance was Ferguson’s husband Justin Mikita and although he may not have been part of the cast, he is certainly an honorary member.

In a photo uploaded to his Instagram he wrote: “My queen and king FINALLY had the most epic of weddings. I love you both so so much. What a magical few days.”

The fairytale wedding between Hyland and Bachelor In Paradise star Adams took place after several delays due to COVID.

Speaking to People last year, Adams said: “We were supposed to get married obviously last year, that didn’t happen. We were supposed to get married this year, that didn’t happen,

“So now we are hoping next year, or we’re gonna go to Vegas, or the courthouse, I don’t know — well, we’re not going to do those last two things, but I don’t know. 2022 has got to be our year, right?!”

And it certainly was – congratulations to the happy couple!
