Married At First Sight UK’s same-sex couple hit trouble after sabotage from BFF

A same-sex couple on the current season of Married At First Sight UK, Thomas Hartley and Adrian Anderson, have already hit troubled waters after interfering from best friend Katie.
Tom and Adrian tied the knot in Tuesday’s (30 August) episode but not without protest, as Adrian’s best friend Katie kicked up a fuss at the pairing.
“Thomas is quite flamboyant and I thought Adrian would be partnered with someone calmer, more sophisticated,” she said on the show.
What followed in the episode was intense interrogations from Katie, leading Tom’s mum to ask if she worked for Channel 4 with her persistent questions.

Tom tried to put Katie in her place by pushing back at her questions and calling her out for preventing him from speaking to Adrian, but to no avail.
Tom took to Twitter after the episode aired, saying he believed Katie was just trying to “protect her friend”.

Tom and Adrian tried to continue getting to know each other one on one, with Tom even comparing Adrian to H from Steps – much to the confusion of fans.

Viewers were unimpressed by her attempts to sabotage the relationship.
“So Katie is clearly in love with Adrian herself. That’s not being a ‘best friend,” one person wrote,
“That’s another level of obsession and possession. Adrian would do well to tell her to take a hike and invest in getting to know Thomas.”
“You can’t gatekeeper your friend, he’s a grown a** man! Be happy for him or at least do the right thing and support him through his own decisions??,” another added.

Another suggested Katie follow the example set by José, best friend of another participant on the show, April Banbury.
April, a former Miss Great Britain, was paired with George, a father to four children aged between eight and 20.
