Anne Hathaway wears Devil Wears Prada throwback to meet Anna Wintour in iconic ‘full circle’ moment

Anne Hathaway sat next to Anna Wintour at a New York Fashion Week show while channeling her Devil Wears Prada character Andy Sachs.

Devil Wears Prada, which was released 16 years ago, sees Hathaway play the perpetually stressed assistant to a high powered, demanding, ruthless fashion editor.

Meryl Streep plays fictional fashion mogul Miranda Priestly – long thought to be modelled on Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

How iconic, then, for Anne Hathaway to attend a Michaels Kors fashion show, sitting next to Wintour and dressed in an impossibly chic 2022 re-do of Andy’s iconic look from the film. We need a minute.

Andy, sorry, Anne Hathaway wore a black turtleneck with a brown crocodile jacket, complete with 2006-era fringe.

Many were quick to point out the similarities between Hathaway’s look and one she wore in the film that also included a black turtleneck and a brown leather jacket.

The fashion Instagram account @diet_prada posted a side-by-side comparison shot, with the caption: “It’s giving Andy Sachs, 2022! @annehathaway was spotted sitting next to Miranda Priestly… sorry, Anna Wintour, at the @michaelkors Spring 2023 show.’

Fans were full of praise, commenting “full circle” and “she knew what she was doing. That’s all.”

The official Michael Kors Twitter account even referenced the iconic film with a photo of Hathaway and Wintour and caption “The devil is in the details” accompanied by a winking emoji.

Twitter has also erupted, with fans loving the callback.

“Anne Hathaway referencing herself from the Devil Wears Prada (17 years ago) while sitting next to Anna Wintour at fashion week… the grip she has on me,” wrote one fan.

“I would be terrified to have to sit next to Ms Wintour, but Anne just looks completely and effortlessly flawless??? She’s so elegant,” another tweeted.

The praise kept coming, with one tweet reading: “Oh this is everything Annie,” and another calling the look: “Unbelievably iconic.”

It’s not the first time we’ve gagged over Anne Hathaway recently – her Bulgari campaign with Zendaya was hailed as ‘the lesbian murder mystery we never knew we needed’.
