House of the Dragon’s Emma D’Arcy saying ‘negroni sbagliato’ sparks insatiable queer thirst

House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy explaining their love for a negroni sbagliato has sent fans into a frenzy.

A video of the actor explaining their favourite drink to co-star Olivia Cooke has gone viral, prompting calls for D’Arcy to be cast as the next James Bond, or to simply whisper sweet nothings into the queer community’s collective ear until we can no longer take it.

In the clip, D’Arcy is asked by Cooke what their drink of choice is.

They reply: “A negroni sbagliato – with Prosecco in it”. It’s difficult to miss the way sbagliato rolls off the tongue in their deep, rich voice. Even Cooke seems a little impressed.

If D’Arcy, who plays Princess Rhaenyra in the HBO show House of the Dragon, hadn’t already cemented themself as an emerging queer icon, then this has certainly done the job.

The exchange has gone viral on social media, and is already becoming a queer culture moment.

One person on TikTok stitched the clip with their own commentary, adding: “What is the most respectful way I can call a non-binary person ‘Daddy’, I cannot continue to live my life until I have that experience.”

Another fan commented: “I’ve watched this 100 times just to hear Emma say ‘with Prosecco in it.'”

While someone else said: “Emma’s voice is like aged wine that’s extremely expensive.”

And we hard agree with the fan who said: “I need Emma to voice an audiobook, do a podcast, anything that gets us to hear their voice for hours.”

Over on Twitter people, one person summed up the mood saying: “I have never been more attracted to another person in my entire life oh my GOD.”

A negroni sbagliato, if you were wondering, is a negroni that swaps the gin for prosecco – equal parts fizz, campari and vermouth.
