Mariah Carey announces ‘it’s time’ for Christmas with chaotic transformation video
Sorry Halloween fans, queen of Christmas Mariah Carey has declared the beginning of the holiday season.
The singer took to social media at midnight on 1 November to shake off the spooky vibes and kick off almost two months of non-stop festivities.
Declaring that “it’s time”, the 30-second clip begins with Carey inexplicably on an exercise bike in full spooky get-up, surrounded by darkness and pumpkins.
As the date rolled over from 31 October to 1 November “All I Want For Christmas” came into full blast.
Carey transformed into her classic Santa outfit, suddenly surrounded by a winter wonderland, and belted out “It’s time” with a high whistle.

The singer has owned Christmas music sinc, “All I Want For Christmas” was first released in 1994, and last year made Billboard Hot 100 history after it hit number one in three distinct runs.
Of course, Carey is all too aware of the grip she has on the Christmas spirit, and has regularly brought in the season with an “It’s Time” video since 2019.
Back in 2019, she shared a video of her going to sleep dressed in a Halloween costume. As the clock struck midnight she received a call from Santa and sung “it’s time” – cue “All I Want For Christmas”.

In a similar vein, in 2020 she had someone in a Halloween costume open the door to her room which was covered in Christmas decorations – cue “It’s Time” and “All I Want For Christmas”.

Finally in 2021, with people now looking forward to the annual tradition, we saw three pumpkins with the words “It’s Not Time” carved in them.
She then proceeded to smash up the “Not” pumpkin and, you know the drill – cue “All I want For Christmas”.

Of course, fans are here for her iconic behaviour and dubbed it Mariah Carey “defrosting” for her annual comeback, even creating the hashtag MariahSZN.

And fans work fast, with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” already re-entering the top 100 on US iTunes.
“How does Mariah Carey outdo herself every year I’ll never know… only her,” one fan wrote in response to her latest video.
While another added: “The queen of Christmas has spoken! It’s finally time!!!”
