Glastonbury 2023 headliners: Elton John and Harry Styles rumoured for line-up
Harry Styles, Elton John and Arctic Monkeys are early favourites to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The first batch of tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2023 have already gone on sale, and it looks like the legendary musical event will be well worth the blood, sweat and tears it takes to nab one.
While Glasto headliners are usually announced after tickets have sold, there are some strong rumours about who might take to the Pyramid stage next year.
Elton John has been widely tipped to take to the stage at Worthy Farm next summer.
He was heavily rumoured for the 2022 line-up – many even expected him to make an appearance with Sir Paul McCartney, who did actually headline the 2022 festival.
Elton is currently on his Farewell Tour, with 57 dates planned around the world in 2023. There’s a big, pyramid-shaped hole in his schedule, with the UK leg due to end just before Glastonbury Festival begins.
NB: We’d also settle for Taron Egerton walking around onstage for two hours in his Rocketman outfits.
Also.. a reminder that Elton John changed his tour calendar where he was originally set to play Paris 25th of June, to now be free between 21st – 27th. Could he be the Saturday or Sunday headliner? #Glastonbury pic.twitter.com/8P1Z4nK00b— Glastopia (@Glastopia) September 23, 2022
Could Harry Styles headline Glastonbury? He’d be the first X Factor contestant to headline, but he’s certainly proved his chops in recent years and is also rumoured for a spot on the Pyramid, which has become more pop-leaning than ever in recent years.
He was hotly rumoured for the 2022 line-up, which eventually saw Billie Eilish become the youngest-ever headliner, aged 20.
Styles is currently touring in support of his smash-hit albums Fine Line and Harry’s House, and is due to wrap up his UK leg on 23 July.
He will be performing two gigs in Cardiff in the week of Glastonbury, with two nights off from the tour on 22 and 23 June – which frees him up nicely to become the Friday night headliner before jetting back to international tour life for his 24 June show in Belgium.
Glastonbury 2023 takes place between 21 and 25 June.
The Arctic Monkeys have headlined the festival twice before – once in 2007 and then again in 2013 – meaning they’re certainly not strangers to the Pyramid Stage.
They are, once again, hotly anticipated by the fans to headline, having recently announced a tour of the UK and Ireland in 2023 ahead of the release of their new album The Car.
There is a conspicuous gap in these dates when Glastonbury Festival is on – which seems like a pretty big hint they’ll perform.
Now this one is slightly wishful thinking – but could Taylor Swift be heading this side of the pond for a long-delayed shot at a Glastonbury headliner slot too?
The pop titan was due to headline the festival in 2020 before the event was delayed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having just released Midnights and announced The Eras Tour, could this be just another box ticked for the most powerful singer-songwriter Billboard has ever seen?
Fans are once again speculating that the Spice Girls could take the Sunday legends slot.
Mel B seemed to have the inside scoop on the 2021 festival being cancelled, suggesting they were slated to play then.
Mel C and Emma Bunton have both said they’re up for it – with Baby Spice even suggesting Victoria Beckham could join them.
The second batch of Glastonbury tickets are released at 9am on Sunday (6 November)
