Elon Musk spends dying days of Twitter joking with anti-LGBTQ+ account Libs of TikTok

Elon Musk

Billionaire Elon Musk, who since owning Twitter has overseen a mass exodus of employees, has joked with right-wing hate account Libs of TikTok about firing a member of staff.

Anti-LGBTQ+ social media account Libs of TikTok posted screenshots of a Twitter employee’s tweets that resulted in their firing on Tuesday (15 November).

The account, which is notorious for stirring up right-wing hate mobs against trans-inclusive doctors, teachers and institutions, captioned the screenshots “how it started…how it’s going”.

Shortly after publishing the tweet, made to mock the former Twitter employee, Musk commented on the post.

“A tragic case of adult onset Tourette’s,” he wrote.

Libs of TikTok responded: “Devastating. This is the way to deal with it.”

Elon Musk’s interaction with the hate account has sparked outrage among Twitter users.

One wrote: “The Twitter CEO is bantering mockingly about an employee he just fired with an account that traffics in anti-LGBT hate and very recently contributed to threats of violence against childrens’ hospitals.”

Another referenced Musk’s claim of being a “free speech absolutist”, and responded: “Whatever happened to that ‘free speech absolutism’ Elon? Good for me not for thee?”

Chaya Raichik, who runs the hateful account, was quick to use the attention from Musk to slam those who hold her to account.

“Media is having a meltdown because Elon replied to one of my tweets. This site offers the best entertainment. Thank you @elonmusk!” she posted on the account’s page.

Raichik, then wrote “Cry more TayTay” in a bid to attack Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz.

It follows Lorenz uncovering Raichik as the online troll behind the Libs of TikTok account.

In the article Lorenz wrote: “Libs of TikTok has become an agenda-setter in right-wing online discourse, and the content it surfaces shows a direct correlation with the recent push in legislation and rhetoric directly targeting the LGBTQ+ community.”

Prior to Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter (or what’s left of it), Libs of TikTok had been suspended from Facebook in the same week a Boston hospital reported receiving death threats after a “misinformation” campaign by the account.

The account is also responsible for an Alabama dog shelter receiving death threats after it held a drag story time for their resident pups.

He has also planned to “purge” accounts that have been inactive for more than a year, leaving those who have lost loved ones, like gay man Adam Packer, concerned they will lose vital memories.
