Cruel Intentions the Musical is coming to London: dates, tickets and more
Cruel Intentions: The ’90s Musical is heading to London – and this is everything we know about tickets.
The stage show, based on the 1999 cult movie of the same name, will head to the Other Palace Theatre in early 2024.
The musical, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, is set to open on 11 January and run until 14 April.
It will premiere 25 years after the release of the film, which was written and directed by Roger Krumble.
Kumble said: “The perfect 25th anniversary celebration of my 1999 film about a pair of hedonistic Manhattan step-siblings is seeing it re-imagined on the London stage as a musical.
“It’s an amazing show with a soundtrack loaded with all the greatest ’90s guilty pleasure songs. Even people who hate musicals will love it!”
Inspired by the French novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, the piece revolves around step-siblings and privileged Manhattan high school students Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil, who engage in a cruel bet to seduce the headmaster’s virtuous daughter, Annette Hargrove.
The musical is sound tracked to some iconic pop hits from the 1990s including “No Scrubs” by TLC, “Genie in a Bottle” by Christina Aguilera and “Sometimes” by Britney Spears.
There’s also songs from Boyz II Men, Natalia Imbruglia, *NSYNC, Ace of Base, R.E.M. and The Verve featured in the show.
The 1999 film starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair and has become a cult classic.
It features moments including the iconic kiss between Michelle Gellar and Blair’s characters and that shower scene featuring Phillippe that was a gay awakening for many men.
