Olivia Colman has debuted a much longer hairstyle as she appeared at the 22nd Zurich Film Festival with her Wicker co-star Alexander Skarsgård.
The 52-year-old actor attended a festival screening and was pictured on the Green Carpet at Sechseläutenplatz alongside co-star Skarsgård. Colman also unveiled a new look, swapping her recent brunette pixie cut for long grey hair.
The Wicker trailer is still fuelling chatter thanks to its multiple bedroom scenes and its rather interesting “monster romance” set-up.
What is Wicker about?
Wicker, which has been described as “an audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention” follows Colman’s character, a lonely fisherwoman whose love life is on the back foot because of the fishy smell that follows her around.
Desperate for affection, she commissions a local basket weaver, played by Peter Dinklage, to create her a husband out of wicker.
The creation, played by Skarsgård, comes to life and is so alluring that the village’s women become incredibly jealous, which threatens to disrupt social order among them all.
The unconventional romance is based on Ursula Wills’ short story The Wicker Husband.
Co-star Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the Tailor’s wife, said, according to the Daily Mail: “She’s deeply unhappy, but she doesn’t know that yet, until she witnesses another woman in the village – the stinky beautiful fisherwoman – make a very different choice about the path she wants her life to follow and that completely unravels my character.”
Why is the Wicker trailer going viral?
The first trailer was released in July and drew attention for graphic scenes between Colman and Skarsgård.
Colman praised the project, saying: “I think it’s in my top three favourite scripts I’ve ever read.”
After premiering at Sundance Film Festival in January, Wicker received a 91 per cent “fresh” status on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans have praised Colman for “not doing a normal movie”, while it’s also another graphic role for Skarsgård, following Pillion.
At last year’s Zurich Film Festival, while promoting Pillion, Skarsgård’s NSFW shirt really caught the attention of fans online.
