Cynthia Erivo to host Saturday Night Live UK as next batch of stars announced

Cynthia Erivo is set to showcase another side of her talents as she has been announced as an upcoming host for Saturday Night Live UK.
The queer Wicked icon will host the show on 24 October, with musical guests Blossoms.
Fans reacted on Instagram, with one saying: “Cynthia is perfect for this.” Another said: “Tuning in for Cynthia.” And a third wrote: “Cynthia?! Stop it!”
The show, which airs on Sky and NOW, has also confirmed LGBTQ+ ally and EastEnders alum Danny Dyer for 10 October, alongside Sasha Keable. Actor James Norton will host on 17 October, with music from The Streets.
The comedy show returned for its second season on 12 September, with Erivo’s Wicked co-star Jeff Goldblum hosting. He was joined by musical guest CMAT.
Actor and comedian Jamie Demetriou hosted on 19 September and was joined by Royal Blood.
Podcaster Amelia Dimoldenberg hosted on 26 September, with Rachel Chinouriri providing the music.

Reaction to SNL UK has been mixed from the start, when it premiered on 21 March, 2026.
One person said on Reddit: “Like all sketch comedy, it’s a mixed bag and when the sketches don’t work they can really go on too long. But the highlights, and there have been at least a couple of really good sketches every week, have been terrific.”
Another said: “The problem with SNL UK is that there’s not really a culture of watching TV on a Saturday night. Any popular shows are in the pre-going out part of the evening, ie until about 7.30/8. No-one will want to tell other people they stayed in to watch TV on a Saturday.”
A third said: “It’s not half as funny as the people who desperately wanted it to succeed think it is. And it’s not half as bad as the people who desperately wanted to fail think it is.”
