This Russian artist had gay sex with a different man every day for a year
A Russia-born performance artist says his relationship with sex has been changed forever, after having sex with a different man for 365 consecutive days.
Mischa Badasyan, who lives in Berlin, had launched art project ‘Save the Date’ in 2014.
The project saw him go on a date and have sex with a different man, every night for a full year.
He successfully completed his project in August 2015, and one year on spoke to Vice about how his relationship with sex and sexuality has changed forever.
Initially, he sought out dates and hook-ups with the help of apps like Grindr, Tinder and Scruff, but he began to get demoralised by the negativity of some of the responses.
Instead, he resorted to old-fashioned cruising and picking up guys in the city’s gay hotspots. The men he slept with ranged from sex workers to a 76-year-old journalist.
However, quickly Badasyan grew tired of the repetitive nature of the encounters, adding: “I didn’t like the dates, I didn’t like the sex, I didn’t like anything.”
He said: “It’s almost impossible… I had to be so focused, so disciplined for the whole year. I slept with so many people. Isn’t it insane?
But after being exposed to so many sexual experiences, Badasyan says he struggles to get a thrill from his experiences.
He said: “My sexuality is very strange now.
“I don’t go on dates with gay people anymore. The only way [I can] enjoy sex is voyeurism in men’s bathrooms, and by picking up of straight, bi, and undecided guys in the street in Berlin.”
On the meaning of his project, he added: “For some, it’s about sexuality; for some, it’s about freedom; for some, it’s about loneliness.”
