Swastikas carved into wall of apartment building where gay, Jewish senator lives in NYC
Swastikas have been carved into the walls of the apartment block of New York Senator Brad Hoylman.
Hoylman lives in the block with his husband and daughter, where two swastikas were discovered.
The Senator who is also Jewish said he thinks the incident is related to the appointment of Steve Bannon as his chief strategist.
Writing on Facebook, Hoylan said: “I came home this evening to news that two swastikas has been discovered in the apartment building where I live with my husband and daughter in Greenwich Village.
“The NYPD Hate Crimes unit is investigating. This comes three days after swastikas were drawn on the doors of nearby students at The New School. Meanwhile, Stephen Bannon, an anti-Semitic, white nationalist has been named as the senior strategist to President-elect Donald J. Trump. Connect the dots.”
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted his support of Brad Hoylman, saying: “Millions of New Yorkers stand with you tonight against anti-Semitism. Hate has no place in NYC. #NotInOurCity.”
This is the latest in countless incidents across the US since the Presidential election last week.
