This viral tweet shows how hilariously hard it can be to label your sexuality

For some people, figuring out your sexual identity is relatively simple.
Realised that you only get hot and bothered for women? There are labels for that. Just men? Ditto.
Whether you’re attracted to more than one gender or all genders, you’re covered.

But finding a way to describe your own particular place on the spectrum of sexuality is tough if doesn’t fit neatly into a pre-existing category.
One Twitter user, Eleni, has gone viral with her struggles in dealing with this dilemma.
She wrote: “yes i am bisexual. that means i’m into [checks notes] three male celebrities, this one dude that was nice to me at the gas station in 2013, and every single woman to ever exist.”

The post has attracted around 200,000 retweets and likes, which shows how many people can see themselves in Eleni’s tweet.
She clarified below that the viral post had been part of her journey towards defining her sexual identity, rather than attempt to throw shade at women who don’t want to call themselves lesbians for whatever reason.
Eleni wrote that “it was actually my way of lowkey coming out as a lesbian 2.0.”
She added: “hi my name is len and i am [gestures vaguely] gay and confused,” before opening up further, saying: “idk labels are hard.

“I don’t feel okay with actually calling myself a lesbian again because i’m not 100% sure but bi feels very wrong too and while the concept of ‘queer’ fits i guess i really f**king hate the word.
“i like girls and i’m not completely closed off to the idea of men at this point yet but yeah. shrug emoji.”
Eleni is not alone in battling with this issue, which has been addressed by a host of celebrities over the past few months who have defined themselves as queer or refused to label their sexuality.
In March, Demi Lovato explained her sexuality, saying: “I’m very fluid, and I think love is love.

“You can find it in any gender.
“I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want.”
In April, Kehlani came out as queer, not long after she kissed Lovato on stage during a concert.

The 22-year-old singer made the announcement after years of public speculation and media reports labelling her as bisexual or a lesbian.
She wrote on Twitter: “cuz i keep geddin asked.. i’m queer. not bi, not straight. i’m attracted to women, men, REALLY attracted to queer men, non binary people, intersex people, trans people. lil poly pansexual papi hello good morning. does that answer your questions? ✨”

On April 26, Janelle Monáe came out as queer.
The 32-year-old singer ended years of rumours by calling herself “a queer black woman” who wasn’t sure if she was bisexual or pansexual, adding: “I’m open to learning more about who I am.”

And also in April, British pop star Anne-Marie revealed that she was attracted to women.
The rising star, who released her album Speak Your Mind on April 27, said: “I’ve never ever just been attracted to men. I’ve never just been attracted to women.

She added: “I’ve never felt the need to tell anyone that I’m bisexual. I don’t feel like I am.
“I just feel like I’m attracted to who I like.”
