Anne Hathaway says she’s in for Princess Diaries 3—and it has a script

Anne Hathaway has said that she and Julie Andrews want to star in Princess Diaries 3.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who starred as Mia Thermopolis in the hit 2001 film and its 2004 sequel, also confirmed there is a Princess Diaries 3 script while on US talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday (January 24).
Responding to a fan on the show, Hathaway said: “There is a script for the third movie. There is a script.

“I wanna do it, Julie wants to do it, Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it,” she added.
“We all really want it to happen, it’s just we don’t wanna do it unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it.

“It’s as important to us as it is to you. We don’t wanna deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”
The news was greeted with cheers from the audience, while a clearly excited Cohen told her: “Wow, very cool!”

Fans of the Princess Diaries series were delighted by Hathaway spilling the latest on a potential third film.
The idea of Hathaway reprising her role as the Queen of Genovia alongside Andrews and queer actress Heather Matarazzo—who played her best Lilly Moscovitz—filled people’s hearts with joy.
One YouTube commenter wrote: “Princess Diaries 3 needs to happen, plz dont mess with my heart right now .”
Another said: “This made me cry lmfao not even lying,” while a different fan commented: “Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited! The Princess Diaries is my all-time favourite movie <3.”
Others praised Hathaway for still wanting to be in The Princess Diaries despite having won multiple prestigious awards and starring in a series of high-profile hits since the original films.

“I know Anne gets a lot of crap but the fact that she’s an Oscar winner and wants to do a Princess Diaries 3 just warms my freaking heart,” wrote one such person.
After 15 years, many fans are desperate for the news to lead to an actual film—but wary after waiting so long.
One of these commenters said: “OH MY GOD!!! Don’t play with me Anne Hathaway!”
In the same vein, another person wrote: “don’t PLAY WITH ME RIGHT NOW,” while yet another fan commented: “Oh please make it happen!!!! We’ve been waiting for so long!!”
If there is a Princess Diaries 3, there is one extremely important concern for a number of fans: the return of Wonder Woman star Chris Pine.
