Lady Gaga edged Olly Alexander for nearly four minutes as the Years & Years covered “The Edge of Glory“.

Alexander dropped the surprise cover on Tuesday (22 June) ahead of the release of Born This Way Reimagined: The Tenth Anniversary, a special reissue of Gaga’s seminal album featuring a series of covers by artists “representing and advocating for” the LGBT+ community.

Swapping out Gaga’s dance-rock for bright pop synths, Alexander has basically turned Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” into one big queer dance party and we are 100 per cent here for it.

“I’m on the edge with Years & Years tonight,” tweeted Gaga, adding that Born This Way Reimagined will be released on Friday (25 June).

Alexander added: “I’m on the edge with you, Lady Gaga.”

It comes after Alexander covered Lil Nas X’s “Montero” (Call Me By Your Name)” and duetted with Kylie Minogue for a remix of his Years & Years single “Starstruck“.

Fans went into full all-caps and exclamation marks for the queer pop perfection that is Olly Alexander covering Lady Gaga.

Born This Way Reimagined will feature all the original album’s tracks alongside six new covers that sees LGBT+ talent (plus Kylie Minogue) give their own spin on some of Gaga’s most celebrated songs.

Already, our mortal realm has been blessed by the musical gods with bop after bop. Kylie released her disco-infused version of “Marry the Night“, following Big Freedia’s queer rendition of “Judas” and Orville Peck‘s yeehaw cover of “Born This Way“.

With Alexander’s effervescent cover, this leaves just two Born This Way classics yet to be revealed, with “Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)” and “You and I” remaining.

As Born This Way reaches 10 years, the City of West Hollywood recently marked the album’s anniversary by naming 23 May as “Born This Way Day”.

City officials unveiled a sprawling Born This Way street painting – and Gaga herself graced West Hollywood with her divine presence as she posed to cheers.

She was even awarded the key to the city in recognition of the towering impact of the title track, “Born This Way”, and its pro-LGBT+ lyrics.
