Kylie Minogue and Years and Years’ Olly Alexander dress up as each other in iconically camp video
Kylie Minogue and Years & Years star Olly Alexander try on each other’s looks in an instantly iconic new music video – and fans are obsessed.
The pair collaborated for Kylie’s new track “A Second To Midnight” for the deluxe edition of her 2020 chart-topping album DISCO – and they thankfully crafted a music video for the ages to mark the occasion.
The high-concept piece of camp starts off with Kylie Minogue dancing in a spotlight in a dark room while wearing a leopard print jacket. It’s not long before Years & Years star Olly Alexander shows up.
The spectacular music video is interspersed with shots of Kylie dressed as Olly – complete with a red-haired wig – and Alexander donning a blonde wig to capture Kylie’s iconic look.
As if that wasn’t enough to get fans riled up, the video ends with a chorus of back-up dancers wearing Kylie Minogue and Olly Alexander masks. It’s all very “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” but somehow, it takes the camp up a notch.
Working with Kylie Minogue was ‘a literal dream come true’ for Olly Alexander
The song – which both Kylie Minogue and Olly Alexander have writing credits on – expands on Kylie’s spectacular return to the genre that made her a pop music legend with her 2020 album DISCO.
In a gushing Instagram post, Olly heaped praise on Kylie, revealing that working with her was “a literal dream come true”.
“Her music has consistently inspired me since I was a kid, she is a true icon I am pinching myself this actually happened!!” Olly wrote.
“Thank you Kylie for this amazing experience, working together was so fun and I’ll never get over being on set with you, I got chills just being there as you did your thing! Actual Kylie Minogue! I’m so so so happy to have created this song with you.”

Kylie also paid tribute to Olly in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I had so much fun channeling my inner Olly in this video – felt like a KING,” she wrote.
Olly responded with a string of crying emojis, adding: “Best day of my life.”
This isn’t the first time Kylie Minogue has worked with Years & Years star Olly Alexander. The legendary “Spinning Around” singer previously lent her vocals to a remix of Alexander’s song “Starstruck”.
In a very relatable TikTok posted in May, Olly spoke of his enduring love of Kylie’s music – and revealed that the collaboration came about after he worked up the courage to ask her to join him on the song.
Kylie’s new song with Years & Years is just one of three new songs that will feature on Kylie’s deluxe album DISCO: Guest List Edition, due for release on 12 November.
The expanded album will also feature collabs with Jessie Ware and Gloria Gaynor, proving once and for all that God exists and that she has blessed the gays.
